The only criticism is that there is no annotation in the CD insert, but you can't have everything. This is classic R&B, and you can't get better than that. What you get for the cost is priceless. This budget collection contains ten excellent representations of the great Ruth Brown. These are original Atlantic recordings from the '50s, and they have been remastered and sound great.
We just didn't hit it off if you know what I mean. She is not bad. Sorry I will sell it to you if you like, I missed something on this even though she is without a doubt a very important part of the Legend of Blues in America and deserves every mention of the word Legend. Just not for me. This was just a OK. Would I buy it again, Nah.
she is also one of the forerunners of that rock 'n' roll sound. she is the true queen of rhythm and blues. she inspired a lot of the ladies that we hear more about.
i have also heard other female artists list ms. listen to this, and you will see why she has more than earned that title. brown as one of their major influences.
ruth brown should be remembered more. you can hear quite a bit of her in etta james for example. gone but not forgotten.
her influence is wonderfully displayed here. my favorite from her is DADDY DADDY as well as MAMA HE TREATS YOUR DAUGHTER MEAN.
I think anybody would like it too. I think this is a great lbum, She has a very unique voice.
